The Future of Outcomes
WSSG’s long term objective is to develop credible and usable clinical
practice guidelines that will improve the quality of care delivered to
patients.
WSSG’s specific aim is to facilitate a process of interactive feedback learning for healthcare practitioners that will
serve to create improved guidelines to medical practice that are based on a
combination of patient derived outcome data, practitioner clinical experience
and scientific reasoning from evidence-based reflection.
We are applying for grants that support an organization that demonstrates and
evaluates innovative approaches to provider education. We purport to
establish a multidisciplinary center of excellence in patient safety and quality
care, which seeks to reduce medical errors and create a culture to improve
patient safety.
WSSG proposes to utilize its experience, resources and
leadership to organize and coordinate a Quality Improvement Organization utilizing community peer-based practitioner Study
Groups, which would regularly review medical practice, educate each other
through dissemination of practice evidence (outcome data) and develop practice
guidelines.
Our vision is to provide a forum for reflection in a rural community setting and
propagate the discipline of evidence-based practice (EBP) through application of an active
learning model for provider education termed KADRE within these peer-based
practitioner Study Groups.
We have developed a multidisciplinary collaboration and recognized the distinct
necessity for community-based projects. WSSG proposes to function as a Quality Improvement Organization with EBP as its
central tenet. It will serve the healthcare community and its patients, as a repository for
outcomes data collection and processing, a center for outcomes research
education, and a forum for discussion of best practice.
